July 23, 2018July 24, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 3 Comments

Hi everyone! I finally finished up sharing all of our San Francisco posts a few weeks ago and I've had a few questions about how I decided what to pack for the trip so I thought I would share a quick post of what I brought along! I knew we would be spending a lot … Continue reading What I Packed For San Francisco

On our last full day of our San Francisco trip we decided to spend our time on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County. When we travel I love having a day that we spend hiking, exploring and just enjoying nature and that is what we had planned for this day. … Continue reading Mt. Tamalpais

A Day in Napa

May 29, 2018May 28, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 4 Comments

When planning our trip to San Francisco we both agreed that we wanted to take a day trip to the Napa Valley. We had such a great time when we visited 2 years ago that we were anxious to go back. With Napa only being a quick hour drive from San Francisco it made for the … Continue reading A Day in Napa

Golden Gate Park

May 23, 2018May 22, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 3 Comments

On our second day in San Francisco we had plans to explore Golden Gate Park. It is truly a huge area (like Central Park in NYC) with so much to see and do. We grabbed coffee and pastries from Butter Love Bakery and headed to the park for breakfast. Right after parking we came across … Continue reading Golden Gate Park

Last week I shared some highlights from our San Francisco trip but today I wanted to share a bit more about our first day in the city. We got into San Francisco fairly early so we had some time to kill before heading to the hotel to check in. As soon as we got our … Continue reading Lands End

Birthday Weekend in Chicago

May 7, 2018May 8, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 11 Comments

A few weeks ago my mom and I headed to Chicago for a long weekend to celebrate my 25th birthday. Not only was I anxious for a break, but I was so excited to have some one-on-one time with my mom. Being the oldest of 6 kids that doesn't happen very often-especially not a 4 … Continue reading Birthday Weekend in Chicago

2017: A Year in Review

December 29, 2017January 3, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 4 Comments

We began 2017 with my family during their annual New Years Weekend in Omaha. I was happy to join them again this year since the year prior Andrew and I were in Napa for our honeymoon for the start of 2016. It was great to get back to tradition and celebrate another year together and I am looking … Continue reading 2017: A Year in Review

Enjoying the Moment

November 6, 2017November 5, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 11 Comments

Lately I have been trying my best to enjoy being in the moment. As someone who is constantly thinking and planning ahead this is something I truly struggle with. I especially struggle with this while on vacation or exploring a new place. I love taking pictures while traveling, but sometimes I get so caught up … Continue reading Enjoying the Moment

This time last year I waddled around as we picked out our tree. Growing in discomfort (& circumference) I couldn’t wait to meet our sweet baby. Taking Jack to pick out a Christmas tree this year was a “pinch me” moment. For so many years I tried to picture what it would be like to share my favorite holiday traditions with littles. It’s better than I ever imagined. Although he doesn’t understand a lot of what’s happening, watching him experience the magic of this season is incredible. So thankful for my sweet little family and to be able to share this time of year with Jack.
So much to be thankful for today, and everyday, but what first comes to mind is being this sweet little boy’s mom. Motherhood has been the biggest challenge and greatest blessing. I’m thankful for everything from the cute smiles & infectious giggles to the sleepless nights & fussy days. Every minute has been an adventure that I couldn’t love more. Watching Andrew become a dad and seeing our families embrace Jack is truly heartwarming. I love this crazy, colorful and loving family of mine ♥️ Happy Thanksgiving
Heading home today to be with our families for Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share it with Jack ♥️ I can’t wait to include him in family traditions and start new traditions as a family of three.
I knew motherhood would come with many challenges. I tried to prepare for them as best as I could. Andrew & I discussed everything from the roles we would play to the possibility of post-partum depression. One thing I wasn’t prepared to struggle with was losing my sense of self. I knew it happened, but I just didn’t think I would struggle, mostly because being a mom was what I wanted most in this world. I felt like that was my biggest goal and who I was meant to be. I still feel that way, but being “mom” 24/7 has started to wear me down. I think it’s mostly because I stay home with Jack (which I’m so thankful I get to do), but mom is the only role I have right now. I have such a difficult time doing things for myself. I can count on one hand the number of waking hours I have spent away from Jack. I know I would be a better mom if I took a bit more time for self-care but the guilt is still there... So moms, what do you do? How do you balance being a mom & still an individual? Because while “mom” is the greatest and most rewarding role I’ve ever had I know I still need to be my own person.
