Creating a “Reading Nook”

August 14, 2018August 14, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 3 Comments

While I am someone who can read just about anywhere, I love having a specific spot to sit and read that has all the right things: comfort, lighting, peacefulness and storage. In December we started to update our bedroom a bit and finally decorate. I used this update as a chance to create a great … Continue reading Creating a “Reading Nook”

Summer Reads

July 16, 2018July 19, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 8 Comments

I have been reading like crazy lately. I think in part it is due to my new nightly routine and the fact that nothing on Netflix seems to be intriguing at the moment. I'm trying my best to make better use of my time which means reading instead of watching shows or scrolling through social … Continue reading Summer Reads

4 Ways I Am Reading More

May 31, 2018May 28, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 11 Comments

Over the past month I have really been trying to prioritize reading. I have always loved reading and that hasn't changed over the years. But my determination to read has. It comes in waves- some months I will finish 2 or 3 books and then another month or two will pass when I have hardly … Continue reading 4 Ways I Am Reading More

2018 Reading List

January 25, 2018January 24, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 10 Comments

I have always loved reading. I was the kid who would have much rather stayed home and read on the weekends than anything else and I am still that way. I really thought after graduating college I would have more time to read but it turns out owning a house and working 40 hours a … Continue reading 2018 Reading List

10 Favorite Books of All Time

September 18, 2017September 17, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 8 Comments

“I live in two worlds. One is a world of books..." -Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) Growing up I was a MAJOR book worm. I honestly preferred reading over most activities as I was pretty introverted and enjoyed the time to myself. I still love reading and try my best to read often but I no … Continue reading 10 Favorite Books of All Time

Summer Reading Review

August 15, 2017August 14, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 7 Comments

My summer reading has really been lacking. I didn't get nearly as much read as I had hoped but there is still a little summer left to knock out a few on my list. We are heading to the lake in a few days and I am hoping to read by lake a bit. While … Continue reading Summer Reading Review

Earth Day: Books & Documentaries

April 21, 2017April 20, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 2 Comments

With Earth Day coming up I am dedicating this week to highlighting Earth and nature (see my Monday & Wednesday's posts). Today I am sharing a few of my favorite books and documentaries that focus on the environment. I know when you hear documentary or non-fiction you probably think "boring" and have flash backs to … Continue reading Earth Day: Books & Documentaries

Motivational Monday: The Happiness Project

April 3, 2017March 30, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 5 Comments

I decided to switch it up a bit for this weeks Motivational Monday and recommend a motivational book that I really loved. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin I first read The Happiness Project my senior year of high school. My mom and a few of her friends were reading it and I decided I … Continue reading Motivational Monday: The Happiness Project

Book Review

February 3, 2017March 15, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ Leave a comment

In January I said I was going to make it a priority to read more often and while I started off a little late in the month I did finish two books and am currently reading another. I know two books in a month doesn't seem like much, but I had been so off track … Continue reading Book Review

Winter Reads

December 13, 2016January 19, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 2 Comments

For some reason I seem to read more often in the Fall & Winter seasons. With the change in weather and cooler temperatures it is so much more appealing to stay in and curl up with a good book. Now that we are finally getting to colder weather here in Nebraska I am excited to … Continue reading Winter Reads

So much to be thankful for today, and everyday, but what first comes to mind is being this sweet little boy’s mom. Motherhood has been the biggest challenge and greatest blessing. I’m thankful for everything from the cute smiles & infectious giggles to the sleepless nights & fussy days. Every minute has been an adventure that I couldn’t love more. Watching Andrew become a dad and seeing our families embrace Jack is truly heartwarming. I love this crazy, colorful and loving family of mine ♥️ Happy Thanksgiving
Heading home today to be with our families for Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share it with Jack ♥️ I can’t wait to include him in family traditions and start new traditions as a family of three.
I knew motherhood would come with many challenges. I tried to prepare for them as best as I could. Andrew & I discussed everything from the roles we would play to the possibility of post-partum depression. One thing I wasn’t prepared to struggle with was losing my sense of self. I knew it happened, but I just didn’t think I would struggle, mostly because being a mom was what I wanted most in this world. I felt like that was my biggest goal and who I was meant to be. I still feel that way, but being “mom” 24/7 has started to wear me down. I think it’s mostly because I stay home with Jack (which I’m so thankful I get to do), but mom is the only role I have right now. I have such a difficult time doing things for myself. I can count on one hand the number of waking hours I have spent away from Jack. I know I would be a better mom if I took a bit more time for self-care but the guilt is still there... So moms, what do you do? How do you balance being a mom & still an individual? Because while “mom” is the greatest and most rewarding role I’ve ever had I know I still need to be my own person.
🍂FALL🍁 I’ll never get sick of this time of year. However this fall season seems to have been rushed away faster than most. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the holiday season and I’m beyond excited for all things Christmas, but I don’t want to skip over the lovely season of cozy & comforting fall. We live in a world that instead of enjoying the present situation we are always looking ahead to what’s next. Instead of jumping on the holiday bandwagon so soon I’m going to just enjoy the peace & calm of fall & Thanksgiving ♥️🍁
