Hot Cocoa Bar

January 3, 2018January 2, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 5 Comments

Christmas may be over but Winter is just getting started. It was in the negatives here over the weekend and brutally cold at times. So what better way to spend frigid winter days than with hot cocoa in hand? Over New Year's Weekend we hosted my family for chili and hot cocoa. We had planned … Continue reading Hot Cocoa Bar

November 2, 2017November 1, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 6 Comments

Last year Andrew and I decided that we wanted to host our families so we planned a fall dinner for everyone. We had such a fun time hosting everyone that we decided to do it again this year. (You can read about last year's dinner here).I started planning back in August. I know that may … Continue reading Fall Dinner Party

We all have our weaknesses (or several if you are me...). For some its shoes, others books, or maybe even sweets. For me, my weakness is dishes. Yup, you read that right, dishes. My husband teases me that I shouldn't be allowed near the dishware section of any store or be able to go into Williams … Continue reading Spring Dinnerware

As a Christmas gift to my husband's parents we planned a 4 course meal and hosted them for dinner one night. Being that this was really only our 2nd time hosting others for dinner (read about our first time here). seeing as this was only our second time hosting, I would say we are nothing … Continue reading Planning a Formal Dinner

Every New Years Eve my family comes to Omaha to celebrate the new year and have some family time together. Their first night here I wanted to have everyone over … Continue reading Cocoa Night

Hosting A Dinner Party

November 9, 2016March 2, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 1 Comment

Along with my love of planning trips/vacations, I get my love of planning dinners and parties from my mom. Other than helping my mom with holiday dinners I had never hosted a dinner myself until just a few weeks ago. Once I got the idea in my head to host a dinner for our families … Continue reading Hosting A Dinner Party

Fall Dinner Party

October 19, 2016March 2, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 5 Comments

I think one of the reasons I love Fall & Winter so much is that they seem to be filled with holidays, traditions, celebrations, and family gatherings. Now that we live in a town away from our families I cherish these seasons even more because I know we will have plenty of time together over … Continue reading Fall Dinner Party

So much to be thankful for today, and everyday, but what first comes to mind is being this sweet little boy’s mom. Motherhood has been the biggest challenge and greatest blessing. I’m thankful for everything from the cute smiles & infectious giggles to the sleepless nights & fussy days. Every minute has been an adventure that I couldn’t love more. Watching Andrew become a dad and seeing our families embrace Jack is truly heartwarming. I love this crazy, colorful and loving family of mine ♥️ Happy Thanksgiving
Heading home today to be with our families for Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share it with Jack ♥️ I can’t wait to include him in family traditions and start new traditions as a family of three.
I knew motherhood would come with many challenges. I tried to prepare for them as best as I could. Andrew & I discussed everything from the roles we would play to the possibility of post-partum depression. One thing I wasn’t prepared to struggle with was losing my sense of self. I knew it happened, but I just didn’t think I would struggle, mostly because being a mom was what I wanted most in this world. I felt like that was my biggest goal and who I was meant to be. I still feel that way, but being “mom” 24/7 has started to wear me down. I think it’s mostly because I stay home with Jack (which I’m so thankful I get to do), but mom is the only role I have right now. I have such a difficult time doing things for myself. I can count on one hand the number of waking hours I have spent away from Jack. I know I would be a better mom if I took a bit more time for self-care but the guilt is still there... So moms, what do you do? How do you balance being a mom & still an individual? Because while “mom” is the greatest and most rewarding role I’ve ever had I know I still need to be my own person.
🍂FALL🍁 I’ll never get sick of this time of year. However this fall season seems to have been rushed away faster than most. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the holiday season and I’m beyond excited for all things Christmas, but I don’t want to skip over the lovely season of cozy & comforting fall. We live in a world that instead of enjoying the present situation we are always looking ahead to what’s next. Instead of jumping on the holiday bandwagon so soon I’m going to just enjoy the peace & calm of fall & Thanksgiving ♥️🍁
