Wardrobe Basic: Layering Turtleneck

February 21, 2018January 17, 2019 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 7 Comments

If you were to look inside my closet you would probably notice that it is most filled with neutrals, basic pieces and lots of stripes. I used to think that basic pieces meant boring and that in order to wear something fun it needed to be new, trendy or bold. But lets be honest, that … Continue reading Wardrobe Basic: Layering Turtleneck

Black & White

February 15, 2018February 19, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 5 Comments

This year I am trying to keep my style and purchases simple and straightforward. While I normally don't jump on trends or fast fashion I don't always stick to what is practical. This is partially why I created the Seasonal Capsule Wardrobe Series, because I want to make sure that I am really utilizing what … Continue reading Black & White

Pretty in Pink

February 6, 2018February 5, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 13 Comments

I am so not a pink person. In fact, until recently you could not find a single pink item in my wardrobe. It is still a shock to me that I chose to wear a pink dress to my senior prom. Never the less, I have been loving light pink lately and it all started … Continue reading Pretty in Pink

Winter Weather Favorites

With about 7 official weeks left in the winter season I know there are still several cold days ahead of us. Especially living in the Midwest I know that we could be dealing with winter weather well into the end of April. It may sound miserable to some, but I love it.Having the right gear … Continue reading Winter Weather Favorites

Winter Capsule Wardrobe: Layered Looks

January 23, 2018January 25, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 9 Comments

Every winter I end up feeling like I wear the same outfit over and over attempting to bundle up and keep warm. This year I have been trying my best to layer different pieces in new ways so I don't get bored with the same outfit every week. When I created the Winter Capsule I wanted … Continue reading Winter Capsule Wardrobe: Layered Looks

Bundling Up For Winter

January 17, 2018January 17, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 8 Comments

The holiday season may be over but winter is just getting started... at least here in Nebraska where we can expect at least another 2 solid months of extremely cold temps. I have lived in Nebraska for most of my life but it hasn't been until the past few years that I actually started to … Continue reading Bundling Up For Winter

Winter Capsule Wardrobe: Little Black Dress

January 16, 2018January 15, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 4 Comments

Today I am sharing the first look at styling a few pieces from this winter's capsule wardrobe. A simple black dress is absolutely a wardrobe staple in my opinion. My favorite black dress is sleeveless which allows me to wear it all year long, I just have to be a bit more creative in the … Continue reading Winter Capsule Wardrobe: Little Black Dress

I am SO excited to launch this series. In case you missed yesterday's post which you can read here, I announced that I am starting a new series, "Seasonal Capsule Wardrobe". I really want to get back on track with sticking to the basics, making the most of what I have, and not constantly making … Continue reading Winter Capsule Wardrobe

3 Simply Festive Looks for the Holiday Weekend

December 21, 2017December 20, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 12 Comments

This time of year there are so many amazing festive skirts and dresses. Truth be told I want to buy them ALL and I probably would buy several if I had enough events and functions to which I could wear them. However, the holiday season for me is pretty casual so other than Christmas Eve … Continue reading 3 Simply Festive Looks for the Holiday Weekend

Velvet Leggings For The Holidays

December 19, 2017December 18, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 7 Comments

I normally have a pretty simple and basic style. I rarely branch out or try anything trendy, but this season I couldn't resist. I recently ordered a pair of velvet leggings and I am so happy I did. I was almost certain after I hit "place order" that I would most likely send them back … Continue reading Velvet Leggings For The Holidays

This time last year I waddled around as we picked out our tree. Growing in discomfort (& circumference) I couldn’t wait to meet our sweet baby. Taking Jack to pick out a Christmas tree this year was a “pinch me” moment. For so many years I tried to picture what it would be like to share my favorite holiday traditions with littles. It’s better than I ever imagined. Although he doesn’t understand a lot of what’s happening, watching him experience the magic of this season is incredible. So thankful for my sweet little family and to be able to share this time of year with Jack.
So much to be thankful for today, and everyday, but what first comes to mind is being this sweet little boy’s mom. Motherhood has been the biggest challenge and greatest blessing. I’m thankful for everything from the cute smiles & infectious giggles to the sleepless nights & fussy days. Every minute has been an adventure that I couldn’t love more. Watching Andrew become a dad and seeing our families embrace Jack is truly heartwarming. I love this crazy, colorful and loving family of mine ♥️ Happy Thanksgiving
Heading home today to be with our families for Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share it with Jack ♥️ I can’t wait to include him in family traditions and start new traditions as a family of three.
I knew motherhood would come with many challenges. I tried to prepare for them as best as I could. Andrew & I discussed everything from the roles we would play to the possibility of post-partum depression. One thing I wasn’t prepared to struggle with was losing my sense of self. I knew it happened, but I just didn’t think I would struggle, mostly because being a mom was what I wanted most in this world. I felt like that was my biggest goal and who I was meant to be. I still feel that way, but being “mom” 24/7 has started to wear me down. I think it’s mostly because I stay home with Jack (which I’m so thankful I get to do), but mom is the only role I have right now. I have such a difficult time doing things for myself. I can count on one hand the number of waking hours I have spent away from Jack. I know I would be a better mom if I took a bit more time for self-care but the guilt is still there... So moms, what do you do? How do you balance being a mom & still an individual? Because while “mom” is the greatest and most rewarding role I’ve ever had I know I still need to be my own person.
