Hello 2019: Goals & Intentions

January 3, 2019January 2, 2019 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 6 Comments

I know most people start out every new year with the intention of making changes or resolutions. Some stick and some don't and that is perfectly okay. I think its great that we make the effort to improve, grow, and learn. For the past several months there have been a few changes that I have … Continue reading Hello 2019: Goals & Intentions

The Best of 2018

December 28, 2018December 20, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 7 Comments

At the end of every year I love reflecting on all that happened. I know the New Year is often a time to look ahead and make resolutions, changes and plans. While I do that too, and have some changes in mind for 2019, I really love looking back on the previous year to reflect … Continue reading The Best of 2018

2018 Intentions: How To Get Back On Track (Feb. Reflection)

February 28, 2018February 27, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 3 Comments

February definitely flew by and I'm not going to lie, my intentions and goals that I set at the beginning of this year did not go well this month. I intended to format these monthly reviews in the same way each month but since February's progress was non-existent I am going to do this a … Continue reading 2018 Intentions: How To Get Back On Track (Feb. Reflection)

Happy New Year, everyone!! With the start of a new year I, like so many others, have been reflecting on 2017 and thinking about what I would like to accomplish, change, and improve in 2018. At the start of 2017 I decided that each month I would set a few new goals. I consistently shared these goals at … Continue reading 2018 Goals & Intentions

This time last year I waddled around as we picked out our tree. Growing in discomfort (& circumference) I couldn’t wait to meet our sweet baby. Taking Jack to pick out a Christmas tree this year was a “pinch me” moment. For so many years I tried to picture what it would be like to share my favorite holiday traditions with littles. It’s better than I ever imagined. Although he doesn’t understand a lot of what’s happening, watching him experience the magic of this season is incredible. So thankful for my sweet little family and to be able to share this time of year with Jack.
So much to be thankful for today, and everyday, but what first comes to mind is being this sweet little boy’s mom. Motherhood has been the biggest challenge and greatest blessing. I’m thankful for everything from the cute smiles & infectious giggles to the sleepless nights & fussy days. Every minute has been an adventure that I couldn’t love more. Watching Andrew become a dad and seeing our families embrace Jack is truly heartwarming. I love this crazy, colorful and loving family of mine ♥️ Happy Thanksgiving
Heading home today to be with our families for Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share it with Jack ♥️ I can’t wait to include him in family traditions and start new traditions as a family of three.
I knew motherhood would come with many challenges. I tried to prepare for them as best as I could. Andrew & I discussed everything from the roles we would play to the possibility of post-partum depression. One thing I wasn’t prepared to struggle with was losing my sense of self. I knew it happened, but I just didn’t think I would struggle, mostly because being a mom was what I wanted most in this world. I felt like that was my biggest goal and who I was meant to be. I still feel that way, but being “mom” 24/7 has started to wear me down. I think it’s mostly because I stay home with Jack (which I’m so thankful I get to do), but mom is the only role I have right now. I have such a difficult time doing things for myself. I can count on one hand the number of waking hours I have spent away from Jack. I know I would be a better mom if I took a bit more time for self-care but the guilt is still there... So moms, what do you do? How do you balance being a mom & still an individual? Because while “mom” is the greatest and most rewarding role I’ve ever had I know I still need to be my own person.
