Happy New Year, everyone! We ended our year differently than we usually do, in fact it was different in so many ways. The biggest difference being that we celebrated the evening as parents with our sweet baby boy. Even though we are almost 11 months into parenthood it still feels so surreal. Usually we end our new year celebrating with my parents and siblings but this year we decided to stay home and enjoy a night in. I definitely missed the usual festivities (and watching my sister become ENGAGED!!!) but I loved spending the evening with my boys.
2019 was a very special year for us, mostly because we became a family of three. It will forever hold a special spot in my heart but I know that this new year will be full of excitement, change and joy.
Usually at the beginning of every year I share a list of goals or intentions. But after reflecting on the past year and what is important to me I decided not to do a list and instead to focus on 2 themes this year.
- Being more present: Enjoy the current moment rather than focusing on what is to come or what has already happened. As a mom I don’t want to miss out on any special moments and I want to be HERE and present for Jack. This means unplugging more often, trying not to control situations, enjoying time at home rather than being on the go and allowing myself to be a better mother, wife and friend.
- Sustainability: This past year I became much more aware of just how much “stuff” we have. This year I want to make an effort to cut back, shop with purpose and intention, and find products and pieces that are more sustainable and ethically made.
So rather than having a list of goals my intention is to always have these 2 ideas in mind and let them help guide my actions for the year. I will definitely be sharing more about each of these on the blog this year. I took some time off of the block to do some brainstorming and writing and I’m so excited to share new content, series and ideas with you all!
I hope everyone’s new year is off to a great start!
