Motivational Monday: Quality Time

I mentioned in last Friday’s post that while I normally like to plan ahead with my blog, that just didn’t happen this past week. I told myself that over the weekend I would get caught up, but that didn’t work out either. Normally this is something that would frustrate me; being behind, not sticking to a plan and not knowing what this next week is going to look like.

I had every intention of being productive and catching up Sunday, but my parents called. They were in town and wanted us to go with them to the botanical garden here in Omaha. At first I said no, I wanted to be at home and hopefully be productive, but after hanging up the phone, I realized what was really more important.

Andrew and I got ready and instead met my parents at the gardens to spend some time together and I am so happy that we did. Even though my parents are only 3 hours away I don’t always get to see them as often as I would like, so any extra time is worth it. We had such a nice afternoon with them.

It may mean that I am behind on preparing posts for the week and I didn’t get an extra load of laundry done like planned, but those things don’t matter. At least not at the moment. Things may not always go according to plan, but at the end of the day what is most important is the time you spent with those you care about.

As someone who is more of an introvert it can be easy for me to say no to any type of social activity or anything that requires leaving the house really, but quality time with friends and family is so important. Sure, it might interfere with your normal routine or set you back on work/housework. In the end, it will be worth it. You will remember an afternoon spent with people you care about, not that load of laundry that was done another day.
