In honor of Earth Day I wanted to talk about different ways to “go green”. It can seem like an overwhelming task and while a full lifestyle change would be great, it isn’t always realistic. So today I am sharing 4 simple ways you can make an effort to be more environmentally conscious.
- Grocery & Produce Bags: Think of how many plastic and paper grocery bags are thrown out every time you go to the store. Start bringing your own grocery bags to reduce waste. As an added bonus, most stores will offer a discount for brining in your own reusable bags. And don’t stop there, you can also find reusable produce bags to take with you while you stock up on fruits and veggies!
- Meatless Mondays: Going meatless one day a week can be helpful to the environment in addition to your wallet and your waistline! Read here for a bit more info on the positive impact of going meatless occasionally!
- Reusable Cups & straws: This is such an easy switch. Whether you are making a coffee run or getting a cup of water at work, use your own cup, mug or water bottle rather than a disposable cup. Many coffee shops even offer discounts for using your own cup. A few favoriteS are the mybyta, Starbucks tumblers, and kleenkanteen bottles.
- Cleaning Products: Switching to non-toxic or more eco-friendly cleaning products is a great way to go green. It is important to do your research but there are so many great brands available today. A few personal favorites are Murchison-Hume, Method, Honest & Mrs. Meyers.
What are some ways you make an effort to live a more environmentally conscious life?
We walk to the store and use a kid’s wagon to haul the groceries home. Each way, it’s only a 1/2 mile walk, so the time difference between driving and walking is only a few minutes.
