Hi everyone! It feels like it has been forever since I have posted (yikes, its been a month!). I fully intended to get several posts up during October but between traveling, continuous morning sickness and a now broken computer I haven’t been able to keep up with the blog, but I haven’t lost interest.
I promise I will be sharing highlights of our trip to London & Scotland soon. A few of you have asked and unfortunately with the broken computer I can’t edit/upload my trip photos right now. So in the mean time I wanted to share a post that I’ve had saved for a while highlighting a few of my favorite fall pieces and trends.
Fall is truly my favorites season for clothes with so many great styles, patterns, textures and colors.
Textures
Corduroy
Growing up I LOVED colored corduroy, must have been a 90s thing. I remember I had a pair of navy corduroy overalls that were a special favorite.
Over the past few years I’ve been happy to see corduroy becoming popular again. I had been on the hunt for a corduroy skirt the past couple seasons. It seemed to be a popular fall piece, always selling out before I could order, but last fall I finally found one! I’ve also found a few great pair of colored skinny cords that I love for fall. Last year I found this olive pair (which comes in other great colors) and this season I found a golden brown color that will be a great addition too!
Velvet
Velvet has become more and more popular the past few seasons as well. From shoes and accessories to pants and blouses there are so many fun pieces out. I personally love velvet heels or dresses for the holidays.
Tweed & Wool
Tweed is a must for fall and there are so many great tweed pieces out this year from jackets and blazers to skirts and dresses. A classic wool coat is always a great staple for the colder seasons. Weather it is something fun like this plaid coat or a classic camel like this one!
Plaid
I know plaid isn’t necessarily a color or a texture but I couldn’t help to include it. I anxiously await the arrival of fall so I can break out my favorite plaid pieces. Andrew likes to point out that probably 50% of my fall/winter wardrobe consists of plaid pieces (scarves, flannel shirts, and even socks, vests and jackets). Its just such a festive pattern this time of year!
Colors
OliveThis was my absolute favorite color of last fall and I’m glad to see its popular again this season (not that it would stop me from wearing it if it weren’t). From jackets and vests to sweaters and colored denim/cords this color is great for fall.
Burgundy
I’m currently on the hunt for a great burgundy dress for fall. In the mean time I love all of the sweaters in this color. My favorite is the LL Bean Fisherman Sweater and these velvet smoking flats.
Rust & Gold
I’m usually not big on colors in the yellow/orange family but last fall I accidentally shrunk a sweater of Andrew’s that is a pretty “deep burnt orange” or rust color. I decided to keep it for myself mostly to wear around the house but now I love it. This golden sweater is gorgeous for fall. And I love this rust colored quilted men’s vest (just size down!)
I love these classically fall pieces and know that several of them I will wear for years. What are your favorite colors and textures for fall? For more fall wardrobe inspiration read my Fall Staples post.
I love these fall looks and textures. I am so sorry you’ve been sick. Feel better. ❤
