Two weekends ago we took a quick weekend trip to Saugatuck, MI. It was short but the perfect chance to relax and enjoy some down time. We arrived on Friday and checked in to The Hotel Saugatuck, located right by the river. When I first looked at this hotel I absolutely loved it. I was immediately drawn to the fireplaces in each room. Any hotel room with a fireplace is a winner in my book!Normally I put quite a bit of planning into any trip we take but given how sick I have been lately I just wanted to take it easy. We arrived with little planned and just enjoyed wandering around the town and enjoying the beautiful weather and views.

Our first evening there we took a boat ride out to Lake Michigan. It was such a beautiful night and the perfect weather for being out on the water.After returning back to the hotel I went straight for a bath by the fire and relaxed. Another perk of Hotel Saugatuck is the sweet treat delivered to your room every evening! Definitely something to look forward to after a day of travel and exploring!Saturday morning we woke up to a lovely breakfast delivered to our room. Usually while traveling I would have us up first thing in the morning and ready to explore, but we took full advantage of the chance to relax. We got off to a slow and easy start, enjoyed our lovely breakfast and then headed out to walk along the river and explore the town a bit more.We stopped in to SO many cute shops while we were out. My absolute favorite was Kindel & Co. They had a great selection of home decor, accessories, and both men’s and women’s clothing. I honestly wanted to take it all home!After spending the morning exploring we stopped into Grow for a late lunch. We had been told it was a great stop but I wasn’t really expecting it to be anything fantastic. I was wrong, it was a GREAT lunch. I honestly would have gone a second time had we been there longer and I will definitely go back on any future trips. Their lavender lemonade is NOT to be missed, it was so refreshing!We continued to explore a bit more and treated ourselves to some ice cream and fudge (to take home) from Kilwins. The rest of our afternoon was spent relaxing and enjoying our cozy hotel room.

Even though it was a short trip we had such a great time. Andrew and I kept saying all weekend that we would love to go back again soon. There is so much more to do and see in the area. We can’t wait for the chance to take another trip!
