Summer to Fall and Winter to Spring are always major transitions in terms of wardrobe (at least here in the Midwest). Of course the change of seasons doesn’t happen over night so it usually requires a bit of layering and being strategic with outfits. During these transitional periods there are a few pieces that I gravitate towards to make it easier to adjust to new temperatures.

Quilted VestA quilted vest is a great layering piece! I wear them all throughout Fall, Winter & Spring. They can easily be thrown over a simple t-shirt or sweater and are great layered under jackets and fleeces as well!

Lightweight JacketsWhile I absolutely look forward to breaking out my quilted and wool coats, a lightweight jacket is key for transitioning in and out of cooler temps. My favorites being a classic trench or something a bit more casual like a Barbour Beadnell. For those days that are still warm but breezy a denim jacket or field jacket are also great options!

LoafersI really struggle during the transition of seasons to find shoes that are versatile and comfortable without being “too summery” or “too wintery”. Loafers or drivers are a great option for transition. They provide a bit more coverage than typical flats and go with just about everything as well. I love these and these for a fun, colorful option, but these are great classics (similar less expensive here). They are great options for both spring and fall.

Weatherproof BootsA pair of weatherproof boots will ALWAYS be a staple for me- Especially with as much rain and snow we get in Nebraska. Bean boots and Hunter boots are my personal favorites. I know that it seems like everyone has them but there is a reason, they are both great quality and well worth the investment. While I love them both Hunters are particularly great for the transition because they can easily be dressed up or down making them a bit more versatile (you can read my post on styling Hunter Boots here).
