Motivational Monday: Memorial Day

I don’t have a quote for today, instead just some thoughts and inspiration for this Memorial Day. To be completely honest, I am not one who enjoys partaking in Memorial Day events (or Fourth of July, for that matter) because I feel as though they have lost their true significance (like most holidays we celebrate). But these two holidays specifically, tend to anger me when I see the way that people choose to “celebrate”.

Memorial Day is a day meant to remember those who died fighting for our country. This day has true significance and by celebrating it with the wrong intentions and actions is a dishonor and disgrace to those who we are meant to be remembering today.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t enjoy this long weekend and spend time gathering with friends and family. All I am suggesting is as you do so, take some to truly appreciate why we have this holiday. Remember and honor those who deserve it and those who died fighting for our country.

Happy Memorial Day
