Best Pieces to Transition Between Seasons

September 19, 2018September 19, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 3 Comments

Summer to Fall and Winter to Spring are always major transitions in terms of wardrobe (at least here in the Midwest). Of course the change of seasons doesn't happen over night so it usually requires a bit of layering and being strategic with outfits. During these transitional periods there are a few pieces that I … Continue reading Best Pieces to Transition Between Seasons

Spring Capsule Wardrobe

March 1, 2018October 25, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 7 Comments

Happy First Day of March! Depending on wear you live it may seem a bit early to start thinking about Spring clothes but once March rolls around I am ready for it to warm up a little and break out some of my favorite Spring pieces. So with 3 weeks left until Spring officially starts … Continue reading Spring Capsule Wardrobe

New Series: Seasonal Capsule Wardrobe

January 10, 2018January 9, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 12 Comments

After reflecting on the blog this past year I knew I wanted to make some changes. Outfit and style posts are usually among the most viewed/popular posts that go up and while I love doing them they often leave me feeling a bit guilty. I don't want to be a blogger that is constantly featuring … Continue reading New Series: Seasonal Capsule Wardrobe

Fall Staples

September 27, 2017August 29, 2018 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 4 Comments

This is truly my favorite time of year for many reasons but one of which is that the style of clothes in fall is my preferred style- light layers, knits, earth tones, etc. I would be happy living in a place where I could get away with wearing my fall clothes the majority of the … Continue reading Fall Staples

5 Closet Staples You Need

August 9, 2017August 9, 2017 ~ taylorrcannon ~ 5 Comments

My wardrobe is pretty simple, filled with a lot of basics and staples. While I do occasionally opt for a statement blouse or fun dress I like to stick with simple pieces. For me, having a closet full of staples makes it so much easier to get ready in the mornings as almost anything will go … Continue reading 5 Closet Staples You Need

This time last year I waddled around as we picked out our tree. Growing in discomfort (& circumference) I couldn’t wait to meet our sweet baby. Taking Jack to pick out a Christmas tree this year was a “pinch me” moment. For so many years I tried to picture what it would be like to share my favorite holiday traditions with littles. It’s better than I ever imagined. Although he doesn’t understand a lot of what’s happening, watching him experience the magic of this season is incredible. So thankful for my sweet little family and to be able to share this time of year with Jack.
So much to be thankful for today, and everyday, but what first comes to mind is being this sweet little boy’s mom. Motherhood has been the biggest challenge and greatest blessing. I’m thankful for everything from the cute smiles & infectious giggles to the sleepless nights & fussy days. Every minute has been an adventure that I couldn’t love more. Watching Andrew become a dad and seeing our families embrace Jack is truly heartwarming. I love this crazy, colorful and loving family of mine ♥️ Happy Thanksgiving
Heading home today to be with our families for Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year and I am so excited to share it with Jack ♥️ I can’t wait to include him in family traditions and start new traditions as a family of three.
I knew motherhood would come with many challenges. I tried to prepare for them as best as I could. Andrew & I discussed everything from the roles we would play to the possibility of post-partum depression. One thing I wasn’t prepared to struggle with was losing my sense of self. I knew it happened, but I just didn’t think I would struggle, mostly because being a mom was what I wanted most in this world. I felt like that was my biggest goal and who I was meant to be. I still feel that way, but being “mom” 24/7 has started to wear me down. I think it’s mostly because I stay home with Jack (which I’m so thankful I get to do), but mom is the only role I have right now. I have such a difficult time doing things for myself. I can count on one hand the number of waking hours I have spent away from Jack. I know I would be a better mom if I took a bit more time for self-care but the guilt is still there... So moms, what do you do? How do you balance being a mom & still an individual? Because while “mom” is the greatest and most rewarding role I’ve ever had I know I still need to be my own person.
