Happy First Day of March! Depending on wear you live it may seem a bit early to start thinking about Spring clothes but once March rolls around I am ready for it to warm up a little and break out some of my favorite Spring pieces. So with 3 weeks left until Spring officially starts I wanted to share the Spring Edition of the Season Capsule Wardrobe Series.
Here in Nebraska Spring weather can be all over the place from days in the 40s to days reaching near the 70s so its important to have pieces varying in warmth that can easily be layered.
Outerwear
I like to have a variety of coats/outerwear for the ever-changing weather and for different activities/events. I know it may seem a bit excessive but with rain, chilly breezes and sporadic sunshine a coat is necessary almost every spring day here in Nebraska. So whether I am dressed up or down I like to have a good weather resistant coat to wear that day.
Trench: A trench is such a versatile coat. I wear a trench coat year round (less so in the winter but occasionally if its a warm day). They are great with dresses, skirts, and works clothes just as much as with casual looks like jeans, leggings, and t-shirts. Honestly I could get away with a trench being my only Spring jacket but I like my coats 🙂 So if you only invest in one jacket for spring let it be a trench coat!
Casual Jacket/Raincoat: While a trench would definitely suffice for the season I like having a more casual and durable jacket for spring as well. I wear my Barbour year round because its perfect for all weather and goes with almost everything. But A fun bright raincoat would be great for spring as well!
Blazer: You can never go wrong with a blazer. They are a great way to add a bit of warmth while still remaining put together. I love the classic touch they add to any outfit.
Quilted Vest: It takes a while for it to warm up in Nebraska so layers are definitely still necessary. A quilted vest can be just the right amount of warmth for a chilly spring day
Tops
Layers are still necessary here in spring so I tried to choose pieces that I know will layer well and can be worn several ways. A good mix of casual and dressy will get you through the season.
Warm Sweater: Spring can still be pretty chilly here so I keep my warm sweaters out until summer rolls around. They are great on their own or layering with a few other pieces in the capsule.
Lightweight Sweater: Perfect for those slightly breezy spring days or chilly nights. This is probably one of my favorite sweaters to wear year round.
Button-down: A button down is appropriate year round and great for layering. For spring I love wearing a gingham button down or even chambray for a more casual look.
Striped T-shirt: The quintessential spring/summer shirt. I have so many striped shirts its embarrassing but I wear this one the most. Its great with jeans, tucked into a skirt or under a blazer for a dressier look!
Dressy Blouse: While most of my tops are fairly causal or business casual I have a few blouses that I have for dressier occasions. These are usually silk or sheer tops in neutral colors that I can wear for any occasion. I love them because they look great with jeans and flats but can also be dressed up with a blazer or skirt.
Jeans
Skinny Jeans: Obviously a classic pair of jeans are a staple for every season. A good pair of dark wash skinnies are always my go to because they are great for both casual and dressy looks!
White Jeans: While I think it is okay to wear white year round (if the weather is nice) I usually break out my white jeans at the first signs of spring. They are a great staple for spring.
Dresses/Skirts
Casual Dress: Spring weather here doesn’t always make me want to dress up (heels and dresses aren’t always great on rainy days) but I love throwing on a casual striped dress like this one. They are great with flats, sneakers and rain boots too. Perfect for spring!
Shoes
Spring is a tough season for shoes because there is still occasional snow mixed in with spring showers. While I would love to just wear my rain boots every day I know that isn’t an option.
Rain Boots: A must for spring showers and the occasional spring snow! I prefer tall rain boots for when he rain and slush splashes up but a short pair of rain boots work great too!
Heels: For spring I love a pair of everyday heels that go great with just about everything. These cap-toe heels are a favorite for spring! I also love a classic block heel in a fun spring color!
Flats: Spring is finally the time I can break out my flats again! I love a classic pair like these for spring.
Sneakers: These are definitely my go-to casual shoe for spring. They are easy to slip on and pair well with just about any casual outfit.
Accessories
I’m really not a huge accessories person. I wear the same jewelry every day and rotate between 2 purses, but I do love wearing scarves year round. With chilly weather still lingering throughout most of spring I included a warmer scarf in addition to a fun square scarf.
Long Scarf: By spring I have typically packed away my wool and cashmere scarves but I love having a few simple longer scarves to wear when I still need to bundle up a bit. I love ones in floral or gingham prints for spring
Bandana/Square Scarf: These are one of my favorite things to throw on in the spring and summer. They add so much to a simple outfit!
This is such a tailored yet comprehensive list. I’m excited to see all the outfits you make with it. Happy March, Allie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com

Thank you Allie! I tried to be selective but still versatile enough that there would be plenty of options 🙂

I could definitely use a new raincoat! We’ve had so much rain lately and I’m in need of a better raincoat to deal with it haha.
