5 Closet Staples You Need

My wardrobe is pretty simple, filled with a lot of basics and staples. While I do occasionally opt for a statement blouse or fun dress I like to stick with simple pieces. For me, having a closet full of staples makes it so much easier to get ready in the mornings as almost anything will go together.

After cleaning out my closet for spring and summer I started thinking about the staple pieces that are most important to my wardrobe. So today I am rounding up my 5 top closet staples that I couldn’t to without!

Fitted Blazer: For me a blazer is a major closet staple. I wear blazers to work, out to dinner and even on the weekends. What I love about blazers is that they go with nearly everything and they are a great way to add a little prep or dressiness to your outfit.

Perfect Jeans: For years jeans were my enemy. I could not find a pair that fit well to save my life. I tried SO many different brands, cuts, and sizes. I hated wearing jeans because I felt like I just couldn’t win. That was until I found my perfect pair.

Classic Button Down: Like a fitted blazer this is another staple for me. It is something I can wear to work with a skirt and nice pants (even under a blazer) or on the weekends with jeans or shorts and cuffed sleeves for a more casual look. I stick to the basic colors for my buttons downs (white, blue, blue and white stripe) that way they remain a versatile and functional piece.

Comfortable Flats: Flats are an every day shoe for me and therefor a major staple. Since I wear them so often it is important that they be comfortable but not too casual. I like to have a black pair and a nude or tan pair as well so that I can wear them with almost anything. A comfortable pair of flats is even better if they can be worn with jeans and a tee just as easily as they can be paired with a skirt or dress.

Simple Heels: I wear heels about once a week either to work or out to dinner (sometimes more depending on weekly events). While I do have a few fun pairs that are a little less practical, I have simple and classic pairs in nude and black. These heels go with everything; jeans, dress pants and dresses. A versatile pair of heels is definitely a must as you can wear them for all occasions.These are all items that can be worn for so many different occasions and with several different outfit styles from casual to dressy.
