3 Ways to Make Your Everyday Outfit More Festive

Holiday Accessories.JPGThis time of year always has me tempted to find a fun new festive outfit for holiday celebrations. But realistically I don’t need a new festive outfit for each year and new occasion. Especially being 7 months pregnant I don’t want to buy something that I will only be able to wear once. So instead I am planning a few fun and festive outfits using what I already have or adding a few simple accessories.

Add A BowRed Sweater & Christmas Hair RibbonThere are so many great hair ties & bows out this season that are perfect for making your outfit a bit more festive. A few of my favorites include this velvet hair tie (similar here and here), this pretty chiffon bow (available in red, pink & black), and this plaid scrunchie (also love this plaid bow).

Dress it up: Pair your favorite festive bow with your holiday dress/skirt. I’ll be wearing this festive bow with my black velvet Christmas dress.

Touch of PlaidBeret and Stewart Plaid Scarf_1742Nothing says festive like a great holiday plaid. A plaid scarf is one of my favorite accessories for the holiday season. There are so many patterns and tartans perfect for adding a festive flare to your outfit. I love this ivory option from Talbots. I also love this scarf that comes in three festive patterns (Black Watch, Royal Stewart & Dress Stewart).

Dress it up: A festive plaid scarf can be worn with just about anything. Pair it with a simple dress and heels for any easy holiday party outfit.

Beret: Urban Outfitters | Scarf: From Scotland (similar here & here) | Turtleneck: JCrew | Jeans: Gap, old (similar here) (see original post here)

Pops of RedWool Coat, Hunters & Plaid Shirt_1610Adding a touch of red to any outfit is a great way to be a bit more festive. A few of my favorite red accessories to wear this time of year are my red hunter boots, a red winter hat, or a solid red scarf.

Dress it up: Wear red heels or flats with a simple black dress. Add a red lip and clutch.

  1. I love this post so much! I have been adding pops of red and plaid/scarfs to most of my looks too. It really makes it more festive without having to buy a new outfit. Merry Christmas, Taylor ❤
