I had every intention of starting 2017 off on the right foot and then I got hit with a major cold. I have felt really off this past week as I have been recovering and trying to get back into routine. This is one of the reasons why I am not a big fan of making resolutions because I feel like the word carries so much weight and pressure.
Change isn’t something that can happen over night. It is unreasonable to think that we can wake up on January 1st and be someone different, someone better, someone stronger. The beginning of a new year isn’t the only time to make goals and implement change in our life, we should be doing so monthly, weekly, daily.
Each month I will be sharing a list of new goals for myself involving my personal and professional life. Some may be serious and others may be more light-hearted and fun.
January Goals:
- Establish a new fitness routine: I genuinely do enjoy working out but I easily get side tracked. So this month I was to establish a new routine that I can commit to for the rest of the year.
- Try new recipes: Andrew and I both love cooking but we often fall into a routine and rotate through a handful of meals that we like. This month I am determined to try new recipes each week.
- Read more often: This is something that I often struggle with. I LOVE reading and would spend all day doing so if I could. However, after long days at work spent staring at a computer screen, reading doesn’t always sounds that appealing when I get home. I would like to get into the habit os setting aside a little time each day to read a chapter or 2 in a book.
- Create a new budget: As expenses, income, and financial goals change it is so important to re-evaluate how you are spending your money. Making a savings goals and creating a budget is such a great way to start the new year!
What are some of your goals this year or month?
I’ve just got back into reading and am getting through a book every 2 weeks…It has helped so much instead of just scrolling through my phone. Can’t believe I ignored it for so long! Good luck with all your resolutions x

Thank you! And yes, I so desperately want to be better about mindlessly scrolling through social media!
