In January I said I was going to make it a priority to read more often and while I started off a little late in the month I did finish two books and am currently reading another. I know two books in a month doesn’t seem like much, but I had been so off track from reading that I hadn’t finished a book in several months (super disappointed in myself).
So what books did I get through in January?
Leaving Time: In high school I was a huge fan of Jodi Picoult novels. Once I got to college I started to read more classic literature and kind of lost track of Jodi Picoult. On a whim in early January I decided to order her book Leaving Time and I am so glad I did. The story was intense and intriguing- I couldn’t put it down. Her books usually throw a curve ball at some point and this one definitely did but not at all in the way I expected. True to her normal writing style, she goes into detail about elephants (the theme of the story is elephants and memory) but it was really quite fascinating. Definitely one to read!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Yes, I realize I am 23 and still reading Harry Potter. embarrassingly it was my 10 year old brothers copy that I borrowed…. I had read the series in Jr. High and High School and when this new story came out I felt like I just had to read it to finish what I started. While it is written as a play and doesn’t go into quite as much detail as the other 7 books, it is still an interesting story and transports you to the same magical world. If you were a serious fan of the other Harry Potter books then I think this one is worth reading too!
Continuing with my goal of reading more often I am currently working on A Zookeeper’s Wife. I am only about 1/4 of the way through it but I am enjoying it so far.
Have suggestions that I should add to my list? Let me know!
