This time of year it can be difficult to be both warm and still feel put together. I often find myself reaching for turtlenecks to layer into my outfit. They are a classic and timeless style, and with the right fit they can be very chic and timeless. Over the years I have tried turtlenecks from several different places. Some have been great while others have only lasted a season. Here are my three favorite styles I’ve discovered over the years and what I love about them.
Talbots Perfect Turtleneck
Out of these three turtlenecks this one is the thickest without being too thick. The “Perfect Turtleneck” from Talbots is still great for layering but thick enough to be worn on its own. As I’m writing this it is currently available in over 10 colors as well as a cashmere option. I only have the basic one, I haven’t tried the cashmere version but I’m sure its just as wonderful. The burgundy is currently on my wishlist, its such a lovely shade.
J McLaughlin Arlette Turtleneck
This J McLaughlin turtleneck is so pretty, I love the ribbed style and the button cuff detail. It has such a classic and timeless look to it. It also comes in a beautiful metallic option which is super fun for the holiday season. I think this style has an elevated look so they also look just as great on their own.
J Crew Tissue Turtleneck
I have had the Tissue Turtleneck for several years (first shared it here). Its my favorite for layering but it also looks great on its own. This is the thinnest out of the three (hence the name), but works great on its own especially on warmer winter days. There are currently several colors available as long as a few patterns as well and a metallic option.
All three of these are such wonderful options for the colder months and they are also classic pieces that return each year. Its so common for brands to constantly be releasing new or different pieces so you know its a good piece when it returns year after year!
Turtleneck Tip: When folding your turtleneck tuck it inward rather than out. It will give it a more seamless and elevated look.
