Happy New Year everyone! I’ve spent the past few days getting back into a routine (or attempting to) after Jack’s winter break, Christmas and New Year’s festivities, and hosting our families.
I’m met with mixed emotions this time of year as I love the feeling of a “fresh start” and resolutions, but it also feels incredibly cliche. And yet, I do have goals for myself but that’s no different from any other time of year. I’m constantly setting goals or resolving to “do xyz”. So let this be your reminder that there is no “right time” to start anew or set goals for yourself. It is always a good time for self-improvement or making peace with things.
A new friend (and owner of the lovely Kait & Crowne) recently asked me if I had any goals for personal growth or personal projects for the year. It made me stop and think. While I hadn’t explicitly said “these are my goals” it did make me realize that there are a few things I’ve been wanting to embrace or change.
I’ve been feeling the need for more creativity in my life and making time for the things that bring me joy. As of writing this post I have officially signed up for a pottery open studio and I’m so excited. I haven’t done pottery in over a decade, but I loved it so much when I was younger. It may seem so simple but it’s a big step for me as I never like to do things where I don’t know anyone else and I also never take time outside of the house away from my kids. I’m really looking forward to the class and can’t wait to see what I am able to make!
I also have been wanting to make a few changes with the blog. I still love creating and sharing here but it may look a little different this year. The content will reflect me and my interests a bit more. Sometimes having a blog I feel like I need to post certain things to stay relevant, but I really want this space to be a reflection of me, the things I love and who I am. So I plan to share more specific posts about the things bringing me joy and also tapping into my creative side a bit more while sharing more interiors and recipes I create. I hope you will still love following along!
I hope this year is a wonderful one for you all. Whether or not you are setting goals, intentions or resolutions I hope you find the peace, contentment and joy you need this year. Happy New Year!
