Christmas Downtown

HappyMonday! Only 7 more sleeps until Christmas, can you believe it?! The holiday season always flies by and this year especially. I was kind of struggling to get into the holiday spirit this year. Something just felt off but that all changed this weekend. We spent Sunday morning downtown admiring the festive decor. I wore some of my favorite “Christmassy attire” and then spent the day curled up inside watching the original animated Grinch. It was a perfect way to enjoy the season!DSC_1731I’ve said before that I love exploring Downtown Omaha. It is such a charming area and that is no exception during the holiday season. Wreaths, trees and lights line the streets and sidewalks, an ice skating rink is put up and you can often see horse drawn carriage rides traveling through downtown as well. It turns into something magical and I love spending time in the area.Christmas Downtown.jpgWe have spent the past few weekends venturing downtown for coffee, brunch and even holiday shopping trying to soak up every bit of the beautiful holiday decor. Until this past weekend, despite the festive decor, it hasn’t quite felt like winter yet. But as we were walking down the sidewalks it started to snow/sleet and I was so thrilled.DSC_1724.jpgThe light dusting of snow that started to fall made everything seem a bit more magical. The beautiful decor and holiday festivities downtown carry on into the New Year. My family spends every New Year’s Eve in Omaha and it is so fun to experience the seasonal decor with everyone together. DSC_1727DSC_1723Between the holiday lights and decor, the falling snow, and my festive outfit it finally started to feel like the holiday season. I can’t believe Christmas is only one week away! So much to enjoy and prepare before this season is over! What are you doing to celebrate and enjoy this time of year?
