We spent part of last week in Chicago and while it was unbelievably hot and humid we had such a great time. I was really struggling to decide what I should pack for our Chicago/Kansas City trip as the weather looked like it was going to be in the 90s with a few scattered storms…. gross. Heat, humidity and rain. How does one even begin to pack for that?
I am someone who prefers to be on the dressier side for all occasions so I opted for this sundress on our first day around town.
We started the morning with donuts (determined to make sure we found the best in town) and explored the area near the hotel before heading to 3 Arts Cafe for brunch. Yes, donuts followed by brunch…
Before getting settled for brunch we took a stroll through the Gold Coast neighborhood where Restoration Hardware & 3 Arts Cafe are located. All of the houses were beyond lovely. I felt like I was walking through an old NYC neighborhood.
3 Arts Cafe & Restoration Hardware was on my “must do” list and it did not disappoint! I will share more tomorrow in our Chicago Hightlights post!
We spent a good portion of the day outside walking around and exploring the city. We even took a boat tour along the river in the sticky afternoon heat. This sundress was a great option for strolling about and could easily be casual during the day or dressed up with wedges and a cardigan for the evening. And major bonus, it has pockets!!
After the tour along the river we did some shopping along Michigan Avenue and then Andrew and I headed off for a pizza date and ice cream at Jeni’s. Even though the weather fluctuated from hot and sunny to rainy and humid all day long we had such a fun time exploring and seeing the city!
Check back tomorrow for more details of our Chicago trip!

Welcome to the Midwest with it’s heat, humidity, and scattered storms! I’d still take it over winter any day though 🙂
