I had been counting down the days for SO long. The Netflix revival a Gilmore Girls titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was released last Friday (Nov. 25th) so I of course spent Thanksgiving break watching all 4 episodes! I had been looking forward to this for months and didn’t want the excitement to end so we spread out our viewings.
If you haven’t watched it, don’t worry I won’t be spoiling anything for you. I have stayed off-line until finishing all four episodes because I didn’t want my experience to be influenced by the opinions of others.
If you haven’t already watched, I would advise spreading the episodes out. I had originally planned on watching them all in one day but now that I have seen all 4 I think it would have been to much to process and take in. We ended up watching all 4 within a 3 day period (Friday-Sunday).
We started with the first episode (Winter) on Friday gathered at my mother-in-laws house (a recent GG Fan) with my sister, husband and in-laws. And what would a Gilmore Girls viewing party be without coffee, Pop-tarts, and Redvines??
Immediately after finishing the first episode I wanted to dive right into the second (Spring) but I knew it would be best to spread them out. Once we got back home from visiting our families for Thanksgiving we dedicated our Saturday night to watching the next episode with ice cream in our PJs (because again, what other way is there??).
At this point I could barely stand not binging the last 2 episodes but work was calling and we had to wait to watch Summer & Fall until Sunday. First thing Sunday morning we grabbed breakfast and watched the third episode (Summer) while still in our pjs in bed.
At this point I was so anxious to finish the series that I was tempted to start in on the final episode without my husband, but I resisted. Finally, Sunday night we sat down with Chinese take-out (again, a Gilmore must).
After watching all 4 episodes I am still trying to process. 6 hours of intense Gilmore is a lo to take in (an I think I am still partially in a food coma from eating like a Gilmore Girl). So, if you haven’t watched it yet, get to it! And if you have, let me know what you thought!
