Fall Color Favorites

This is the first year in a loooonnnggg time that I haven’t felt the need to rush in to fall. I’ve been enjoying the end of summer but am definitely excited for the arrival of my favorite season. I love the beautiful tones and colors of fall. This is definitely my favorite season for clothes and shopping. I’ve rounded up a few favorite pieces in beloved fall tones like Chocolate, Merlot and Olive. These three colors are what I gravitate toward most this season and there are so many great pieces out right now.

Have & Love

A few of these pieces I have and absolutely love. Many I have owned for several years. When doing posts like this I always think its helpful to share which pieces I can actually speak to their quality.

  • Over the Knee Boots: I had been eyeing these boots for a couple years and finally got them at the start of last fall. They don’t disappoint. They are waterproof and also have a great non-slip sole perfect for winter weather conditions. I know the trendy thing is to wear them with dresses but I mostly wear mine with jeans and sweaters.
  • Tweed Jacket: I fell in love with this when I first saw it. It is a washable wool jacket and at a great price point. Lady jackets are a year round favorite for me and this one is so perfect for fall. It also comes in a beautiful camel color.
  • Staud Wells Dress: While I don’t own this specific color, the Wells dress is one of my favorite. It is so flattering and can easily be dressed up or down. This brown is such a lovely color for fall.
  • Natalie Slingback Flats: These are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. They are so beautiful and unique. I love wearing them throughout fall, especially when it is still warm out but I’m in the mood for fall style.
  • Barbour Beadnell: I have had this jacket for about 7 years I think. I love it so much that I own it in both the Sage and Navy. It is such a classic and timeless style. I wear it fall through spring and always get excited when the temperature has dropped enough to break them out. You can see it styled here and here.
  • Arlette Turtleneck: This is one of my favorite turtlenecks. Its the perfect thickness to be warm yet thin enough to later underneath other pieces. I especially love the button detail on the sleeves. Also available in a crewneck version.
  • Wool Cape: I own this cape in the navy and really love it. It is such a fun way to elevate your look. I love every color it comes in. If I were to order a second one it would be the “mink” (dark brown), BUT they are releasing a plaid version this year that is STUNNING so keep an eye out because these sell out right away!

Wishlist

While I would love to add all of the above piece I don’t have to my wardrobe I know that isn’t realistic. If I could only choose a few here is what I would pick:

  • Burgundy Broderie Top: I had just said to mom and sister the other day that I would really love a Sezane style lace top in burgundy and then I found this beauty. It is so beautiful on its own but would also be lovely layered under a sweater or cardigan.
  • Burgundy Flats: I can’t decide between these captoe flats or the square toe. They are both so lovely! I love adding a pop of color via shoes so having either of these in my fall lineup would be so fun.
  • Fleece Vest: I’ve been wanting this vest for three years now. Maybe this will finally be the year I order it. Its definitely very casual but I love vests like this layered over button downs paired with riding boots.

While it is tempting to buy all of the trends at the start of each season I’m trying to only shop pieces that will add depth and versatility to my wardrobe. Trends can often be difficult to style with what you already own or leave you feeling like you need an entirely new wardrobe. But sticking to classic and timeless pieces will suit you and your wardrobe for years to come.
