I’ll be honest, I’ve never really been one to “celebrate” or go all out for Valentine’s Day- no matter what my relationship status was. Even now, Andrew and I don’t really make any extravagant plans, we spend the night cooking together and staying in.
There is no right way to spend Valentine’s Day. In preparation for the holiday next week I am sharing five ways you can spend the day regardless of you relationship status.
Cook a Fancy Dinner
This is usually how Andrew and I spend our Valentine’s Day. Our first Valentine’s Day together we made Coq Au Vin and had so much fun cooking together that it has become a tradition for us. But even before Andrew and I were together, cooking on Valentine’s Day was still something I enjoyed. There were a few years in college that my roommates and I made dinner together for Valentine’s Day and enjoyed the night in. So whether you are staying in and want to make something fancy for yourself or cook with friends or your partner, a fancy meal is a fun way to treat yourself!
Movie Night
Break out your favorite romantic comedies and dramas for a movie marathon. Whether you want to spend the night alone, with friends or your significant other, a cozy and relaxing movie night is a great way to spend the day.
‘Love’ly Party
My mom always has fun themed treats for the kids on Valentine’s Day. She decorates the table and it always looks darling. I love the idea of having loved ones over for a fun themed party. Invite your friends, family, or any loved ones for a fun Valentine’s Day party. I shared a few fun and easy treats to make for Valentine’s Day here that would be perfect for this occasion!
Pass on the Love
Make the night special for someone else (like your parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.) by sending them out to a nice dinner or cooking something special for them. If you aren’t able to do that, send a card or make a special phone call just to tell them that you love them and appreciate them.
Treat Yourself
Even if you are in a relationship, do something nice for yourself. Maybe this means taking some time to yourself to read, relax, take a long bath, etc. Or grab your favorite dessert, have a glass of wine and spend a night in. No matter your relationship status you deserve to do something nice for yourself!
Are you someone who celebrates Valentine’s Day? What is your favorite thing to do?

Love this! I think it’s great to remember that V-Day goes beyond just being in a relationship – it’s about love in general – and spreading it! XO
