I am really looking forward to being with our families this weekend. I keep thinking about all of the fun and festive things I want to do while we are all together and my list reads a little bit like Buddy’s in Elf…”first we’ll make snow angels for two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, and after that we can eat a roll of cookie dough as fast as we can and to finsh it off we can snuggle!!”.
Ok, so my maybe my list isn’t THAT extreme but its pretty close. So today I am sharing some festive ideas for how to spend your holiday weekend with family and friends!
Holiday Movie Night
I am always up for some good (or cheesy) holiday movies! I try to fit as many in during the short window of the Christmas season (and I have been known to watch a few year round). So make a list of family favorites and watch a couple through out the weekend.
Here are a few of my favorites:
- It’s a Wonderful Life, Rudolph, Frosty, Miracle on 34th St (both versions), A Christmas Carol, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both versions), The Holiday, The Family Stone, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Santa Clause I, and The Polar Express,

Christmas Puzzle
My family loves doing puzzles! While board games are fun for the holidays a puzzle is a little less competitive and allows people to participate on and off as they please. Here are a few fun holiday puzzle options: Small Town Snow (1000 PC), Christmas Village (750 PC), Santa & Puppies (1000 PC)
Cocoa BarWhat better way to enjoy a day in with family than to cozy up with a tasty hot cocoa. And even more fun to do so while watching holiday movies! Grab some cocoa, milk and a few fun toppings and you are on your way to having a yummy treat!
Tour of Holiday Lights
After the sun goes down bundle up and load up in the car to go admire all of the festive lights (maybe with a hot cocoa in hand and Christmas music playing!). Everything is SO pretty while lit up and decorated. Only a few more days to admire all of the festive lights before they are put away for another 11 months.
Ice SkatingI know not everyone is a fan of ice skating but this is the perfect time of year to go! And I promise you don’t have to “be good at skating” to have fun! I am not a good skater at all (lets be honest, I can barely walk without falling so just imagine how great I am on ice…) but regardless I love going every year. So whether you have a local outdoor rink set up for the holidays or an indoor hockey rink, make a skating date with your family and friends!
What are some fun and festive things you enjoy doing with your friends and family during the holidays??
All of these are on my list too!! We’re so excited and can’t wait for Christmas!
