A few weeks ago my mom and I headed to Chicago for a long weekend to celebrate my 25th birthday. Not only was I anxious for a break, but I was so excited to have some one-on-one time with my mom. Being the oldest of 6 kids that doesn’t happen very often-especially not a 4 day weekend together.
For the last week of March it was disappointingly cold on our trip but we still made the most of it and tackled almost everything on our list of places to go. Due to the cold and injuring my foot on the trip I didn’t break out my actual camera very often so most of the photos we took were with our iPhones. But it was such a fun weekend I still wanted to share some of the highlights.
The Drake HotelWe stayed at the Drake Hotel and I’m so glad we did. There are so many beautiful and intricate design details throughout the hotel. Most of it still has such an old and historic feel to it, which I love.
During our stay we had tea downstairs which was such a fun way to spend a chilly afternoon. This was something my mom and I were both looking forward to. Perfect for a mother-daughter trip.
Signature Room
On our last full day in the city we went to the Signature Room for brunch. It is located at the very top of the John Hancock building which means beautiful views of the city and overlooking the lake.
Spiaggia
I had been wanting to try Spiaggia since the last time I was in Chicago so I was thrilled to have the chance to go. Even though we were in Chicago to celebrate my birthday I wanted to do something special for my mom so I planned this dinner for us. We both love Italian food and it was so much fun to share this with her.
Restoration Hardware
Although I had been to 3 Arts & Restoration Hardware before I really wanted to go with my mom. It is such a fun setting and the food is always great. After our lunch we walked through the building looking at all of the rooms getting design ideas. We both especially loved the floor with all of the nurseries and children’s room décor.3 Arts is a great spot for lunch or coffee. If you get the chance to visit I would definitely recommend stopping in.
So glad that I got to spend a long weekend celebrating with my mom (aka my sister like most people assumed)!

The view from the Signature Room is breathtaking! You must’ve felt amazing! And your mom looks like your sister, and the lady had 6 kids! I wish I could go to Chicago too, it really looks great.
