Enjoying the Moment

Lately I have been trying my best to enjoy being in the moment. As someone who is constantly thinking and planning ahead this is something I truly struggle with. I especially struggle with this while on vacation or exploring a new place. I love taking pictures while traveling, but sometimes I get so caught up in capturing the moment through a photo that I forget to actual savor it while I am there.Portland Headlight_0281Luckily I realized this before going to Maine. I told Andrew that I wanted to be better about really enjoying each moment on our trip. Clearly I still took a LOT of photos as evidenced by the posts about our trip (which you can read here, here, here and here) but with each new location and adventure I made sure that I took time to just stop and enjoy where we were.Sunset in Kennebunkport_0135Whether we were exploring the coast, searching for fall foliage, or hiking through Acadia I would occasionally stop and take a few minutes to just sit and enjoy where we were at. Doing so made each day so much more memorable and enjoyable. Acadia Cadillac Mountain 2Realizing what a difference this made on our trip made me realize that I need to be doing this regularly. Whether it is a date night with Andrew, a family celebration, or a new adventure I should be taking the time to really let it all soak in and simply enjoy the moment. Sunset in Kennebunkport_0103It is so important to take time to just enjoy what is happening. No camera, no phone, no thinking ahead, just simply being there in that moment. It isn’t always easy but it makes all the difference. With all of the holidays and celebrations coming up over the next few months this is definitely something I want to apply to my daily life and I hope you do the same!

  1. Aw! I love this! Isn’t it fascinating how we get so wrapped up in the things that don’t matter and we fail to enjoy what does. Sometimes I wish we didn’t have all of this modern tech to ruin moments… life used to be so much more simple. *shrugs* I enjoy the digital life and combined with my Type-A (plan ahead! take charge!) personality, it can definitely be a struggle to sit back, chill and enjoy life.

  2. Enjoying the moment technology free can be pretty hard! Sometimes Dan and I will allot a certain amount of time for our “photoshoot” then once that’s over with, we put everything away and just relax together! It has definitely improved our vacations! 🙂
