A Fall Front Porch

Every year I envision having a beautifully curated front porch full of fall decor. It never quite works out this way no matter how hard I try so this year I went in wanting to keep it simple and understated. We don’t exactly have the grand front porch that I somehow always end up thinking we do, so understated works best.Front Porch 1We visited a local neighborhood market to pick up some pumpkins and mums and as soon as we walked up I knew exactly what I wanted to do. They had a selection of their “specialty” pumpkins that I absolutely loved. You know, the oddball ones that come in lighter colors and weird shapes? Andrew kept asking if I wanted any traditional orange pumpkins like last year, but I knew these lighter colored pumpkins would be perfect.DSC_0868DSC_0867We have a blue/green front door so I thought the softer colors would blend better and also contrast the deep orange mums that I had my heart set on. I didn’t want the porch to be covered in bright orange and look out of place.DSC_0873DSC_0864.JPGI had envisioned creating a porch that would be subtly fall rather than covered in bright colors and huge pumpkins. I think Andrew was glad that I didn’t want to go too overboard 🙂 Even though it was very hot Fall day I was anxious to get everything set up and prepared for my favorite season.Front Porch 3DSC_0872

While we were picking out all of our fall décor I also picked up a few things for a fall tablescape that I will be sharing in a few weeks!

How are you decorating for fall this year?

  1. The contrasting colors between your door, mums, and pumpkins are perfect! And I love that you went to a market for the pumpkins- I feel like that makes it more special than picking them up at normal stores.
