The sticky summer heat of the Midwest is upon us and I am already anxious for fall. Dressing for the hot Nebraska summers can be difficult while trying to look nice without being melting.

I try to stick to skirts and dresses as much as possible during the week to keep cool, but even then I struggle to find pieces that are versatile and modest. I also prefer pieces that can be dressed up for work but also dressed down for a more casual and easy look on weekends. I found this sundress (as seen here) before my trip to Chicago that is super versatile for summer and so is this fun striped skirt.

I love that this skirt can easily be dressed up, but can also be paired with a t-shirt and converse or sandals for a more casual look. I first wore this outfit to dinner at a French Bistro in Chicago. Since we were going to a nice restaurant I opted for this eyelet ruffled blouse to dress it up, but still keep it summery.

And of course one of my favorite accessories this season has been my rattan clutch. When we are going out to dinner I prefer taking a clutch over a large bag and this one is so fun for spring and summer!

I try my best to stick to pieces that can be worn several ways and this skirt has proven to be the perfect item. Versatile pieces like this skirt or this sundress are great for summer as they can be worn for a casual day, dinner out, or even to work. Not only is it versatile but it super comfortable, doesn’t wrinkle easily and it has pockets (always a major selling point for me). Especially now that I am going all summer without shopping I am so glad that I have clothing that can be worn so many different ways!
