I’m not really a fan of this saying… “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. So maybe its a little hypocritical to use it in a motivational Monday post when I don’t fully love it myself but bear with me, I have a reason.
This past weekend (well this past week really) was a busy one. I had planned to get so much done around the house and with the blog but it just didn’t work out (that’s why I’m writing this at 11PM Saturday night). My husband is out as I am writing this and we were planning to do a shoot for an outfit post tomorrow morning and as I was starting to get everything prepped I checked the weather app and realized that is only going to be 40 degrees out tomorrow morning. FORTY DEGREES… in mid May. What?? Not exactly the best weather to shoot a sun dress in as I had planned.
So as I was trying to figure out a back up plan I went through my closet and saw one of my favorite pieces, this lemon print bandana. Knowing that I had a Mint Lemonade Recipe scheduled for this week I figured, I may as well stick to the theme this week. A lemonade recipe, a lemon print bandana, and a bright lemon-yellow raincoat.
I know that an outfit change is not a disaster at all and this isn’t the most moving example of making things work. However, the point is that when something doesn’t go as planned there is ALWAYS another option. You might not get the same results as you had hoped for, but you can still keep moving forward.
The reason I’m not crazy about the saying “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” is because lemonade isn’t your only option. I know it isn’t meant to be taken literally, but you can do more with lemons; there are so many other possibilites.
So when things don’t go as planned or you get a little off course, just remember that there are other ways to make things work. And things will work out eventually. You just have to find a way and make the best of the situation you are in.
So in keeping with the theme, be prepared for all things yellow and “lemony” this week!
